The channel was founded in Cyprus in 2003 by Al Hayat Ministries, an evangelical organization.

Al Hayat TV is an Arabic satellite television channel owned by Al Hayat Media Group in Saudi Arabia. The channel was launched in February 2005 and is considered one of the leading news channels in the Middle East, providing news, current events, and in-depth analysis from around the world with a focus on the Middle East and Gulf region. The programming on Al Hayat TV also includes business, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle shows.
